What is the difference between Discontinue the product and Retire the product?

Discontinue

A product may be marked as Discontinue when it is no longer marketed or sold, but the SmPC or PIL still needs to remain publicly available.

• The product stays visible on emc
• Associated documents remain published

Retired

Retiring removes information completely from the emc.
Retirement applies to documents (SmPC and PIL), not the product itself.

A product will only disappear when both its SmPC and PIL are retired
